Random Tarot Card

Pull one card at random, or three for past, present and future, and see what each one means.

Three ways to use a random card

  • A focus for today. Pull one card in the morning and carry its message through the day.
  • A journal prompt. Write the card down, then write about where its theme shows up in your life right now.
  • Study practice. Pull a card, say what you think it means, then check the full meaning. It is the fastest way to learn the deck.

Want a reading, not just a card?

A random card gives you a card and its meaning. For a question you care about, a reading does more: you shuffle and cut the deck yourself and the message is written for your question. Try the free yes or no tarot, draw your free card of the day, or see which spread fits your question.

Questions

Is a random card as good as shuffling a real deck?

It is the same idea. A well shuffled deck puts any of the 78 cards on top with equal odds, and so does this. Each pull uses your browser's cryptographic random numbers, so no card comes up more often than another.

How often do reversed cards come up?

With reversals on, about one card in three lands upside down, the same rate as in our readings. Turn reversals off if you only read cards upright.

What should I do with the card I pull?

Read its short message, then ask how it applies to something in your life this week. Many people write the card and one line about it in a journal, and look back after a month to see what kept coming up.

Readings are for reflection and entertainment. You are the author of your choices.
