When to use the Full Moon Release spread
- A project, season or chapter is wrapping up and you want to take stock.
- Something has become clear lately and you want to know what it asks of you.
- You feel weighed down and want to name what you are ready to put down.
- You set an intention at the new moon and want to check in on it.
The 3 positions
- 1
Come to light
What the full moon showsWhatever has come into plain view this cycle shows up here: something you have finally seen clearly, finished or let yourself feel. Read it as a report on the cycle that is peaking, not a forecast. Ask what this card shows you that you could not see a month ago.
- 2
Let it go
What is ready to leaveThe middle card names what is ready to leave: a fear, a habit, a grudge or an expectation that has grown heavy. You do not have to force it out. Notice it, name what it once did for you, and choose one small way to loosen your grip.
- 3
Celebrate
What has ripenedHere is the harvest: what has ripened and deserves thanks, whether a result, a lesson or simply the way you kept going. Mark it before you rush to the next goal. If a hard card lands here, read it as what still needs tending, and celebrate the progress you can already see.
How to read the Full Moon Release spread
Let the first card set the theme, then read the other two as its answers. The Come to light card shows what this cycle has made clear. The Let it go card often shows what that clarity no longer needs, and the Celebrate card shows what it has given you. In that order, the spread moves from seeing, to setting something down, to giving thanks.
The full moon's symbolism is simple. The moon is fully lit, so it stands for seeing clearly and finishing what is ripe. That meaning is a tradition people give the moment, not a force acting on you. Its real value is the pause: a set time each month to take stock before the next cycle begins.
Give the Celebrate card as much time as the other two. It is easy to skip gratitude and move straight to the next goal. If you laid a New Moon Intentions spread two weeks ago, put it beside this one and compare what you planted with what has come to light.

Six of SwordsYou are in the middle of a crossing, leaving turbulence behind for steadier ground. The pace may feel slow, but you are moving in a good direction.

Six of CupsLooking back too fondly may be clouding your view of the present. Not everything from before belongs in your life today.

Four of WandsIf things continue as they are, this path leads toward harmony, stability and a well-earned celebration. A strong foundation looks within reach.
A new life is taking root at its own pace. The Six of Swords shows what has come to light: you are mid-crossing, leaving a rough stretch behind for steadier ground, slowly but in a good direction. The Six of Cups is what is ready to go: looking back too fondly and measuring the new place against the old one. Keep the people and the memories, and let the comparison go. The Four of Wands is what to celebrate: harmony, stability and a strong foundation within reach.
Tips for reading the Full Moon Release spread
- Before you draw, look back over the past two weeks. Name one thing that ended, one that grew and one that surprised you.
- Choose the focus that matches what is peaking: Work for a project, Love for a relationship, Self for your inner life.
- Pick one small, real way to let go, like declining one commitment, rather than a grand gesture you will not keep.
- Name the Celebrate card's gift in one specific sentence, out loud or on paper.
Questions
What is a full moon tarot spread for?
Taking stock. This spread asks three things at the peak of the lunar cycle: what has come to light, what is ready to go and what deserves celebrating. Those questions follow the full moon's traditional themes of culmination, release and gratitude. It looks back over the cycle rather than forecasting the next one.
When is Full Moon Release free?
From 36 hours before the exact full moon until 36 hours after, about three days in all, for everyone. The home page shows the date of the next full moon. On other days you can still lay the spread with Stardust or the Oracle Pass.
What if a card I love lands in Let it go?
Then the release is about holding something good more lightly. A bright card here often points to too much of a good thing, such as comfort turning into a rut or confidence tipping into overconfidence. Letting go does not mean losing it. It means you stop needing it to stay exactly the same.
Do I need to see the full moon?
No. Clouds, city lights or a late moonrise make no difference to the cards. The timing gives you a shared moment to pause, not a test of the weather. If you can step outside and look up for a minute before you shuffle, it can be a calm way to begin.
